WHAT OUR PATIENTS ARE SAYING
HOW DOES IT WORK?
INITIAL CONSULTATION – The provider will spend time allowing you to share your health journey, thoroughly review any previous medical records, collect information about any symptoms and devise a strategic evaluation path around functional medicine testing
COMPREHENSIVE TESTING – The provider will order your functional medicine testing based on individual needs. Testing can include samples from your blood, urine, stool, saliva, or hair depending on the type of tests being ordered
REVIEW TEST FINDINGS – After you have completed all of your testing you will meet with the provider to review the summary of findings. Depending on results further testing may be recommended or you could be referred to other specialists or providers if needed.
RECEIVE TREATMENT PLAN – Once all the necessary tests have been completed you will receive a thorough and comprehensive wellness plan with recommendations on how to reverse dysfunction in the body holistically. Many treatment plans include guidance around nutrition, lifestyle modifications, detox regimens, supplements and sometimes medication including medical devices if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions about Functional Medicine Visits
**What is functional medicine?**
Functional medicine is a holistic approach to health care that aims to identify and address the root causes of disease. It views the body as one integrated system, rather than a collection of independent organs divided by medical specialties. This approach takes into account the entire history, lifestyle, and unique health profile of each patient to propose a treatment plan.
**How does a functional medicine consultation differ from a regular doctor’s visit?**
Unlike traditional 15-minute doctor visits, a functional medicine consultation is thorough and comprehensive, often lasting an hour or more. During your first visit, the practitioner will explore your detailed medical history, lifestyle behaviors, diet, stress levels, and more. This in-depth discussion helps in crafting a highly personalized health plan.
**What conditions can functional medicine treat?**
Functional medicine is particularly effective in treating chronic diseases such as autoimmune disorders, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, metabolic syndromes, and more. It also focuses on preventive care and wellness, aiming to optimize overall health rather than merely addressing symptoms.
I don’t live in Tennessee. Can I still become a patient and do you offer virtual visits?
Yes! We are licensed to see patients in the following states: AZ, CO, FL, IL, KY, MN, MT, NM, NV, OR, TN, WA.
**What should I bring to my first functional medicine appointment?**
For your initial appointment, bring any relevant medical records, a list of medications and supplements you are currently taking, any recent lab work, and a written history of your health concerns and symptoms. You may also be asked to fill out a comprehensive health questionnaire before your visit.
**How long does it take to see results with functional medicine?**
The time frame for seeing results in functional medicine can vary depending on the individual and their specific health issues. Some patients notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may see a gradual change over several months. Functional medicine is focused on long-term, sustainable health solutions rather than quick fixes.
**Will my insurance cover functional medicine?**
Elevated Contouring Hydration and Weight Loss does not contract with or bill health insurance directly Many health plans do not cover functional medicine services, however, we do accept HSA cards and care credit. We will also provide an itemized statement if needed.
**Can I continue to see my regular doctor while undergoing treatment?**
Yes, functional medicine complements traditional Western medicine rather than replacing it. It is recommended that you maintain your relationship with your regular doctor while undergoing functional medicine treatments, as this holistic approach is best when integrated with all aspects of your health care.
How Much Does Functional Medicine Cost?
Our initial consultation fee is $149. Functional Medicine Testing will vary depending on the tests that are recommended but in general each test starts at close to $200 per test.
