FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE GALLATIN

MEET DR. SALIMAH JONES OUR FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE PRACTITIONER

As a mother of 4 children with 2 who are autistic, Dr. Jones understands what it feels like to be challenged with chronic health problems daily. Nothing is worse than to receive news that you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a lifelong health issue with “no cure” or “no known cause”, Becoming frustrated with the limitations of traditional medicine, Dr. Jones has had to do her fair share of digging deep to find answers into why her children were not receiving the healing they needed and reaching the potential she knew that they could. Through extensive research and with the discovery of functional medicine, she has been able to not only help her own family overcome many of their health challenges, but also seen the impact it has had on the lives of her patients. As an integrative and functional medicine practitioner Dr. Jones is passionate about helping her patients take charge of their health by taking a deep dive into what’s going on with them on a cellular level to identify underlying imbalances. In the functional medical world, we call these imbalances “root causes”. Taking a root cause approach allows the patient and the practitioner to understand the intricate levels that are involved and empowers the patient to take actionable steps towards their own healing journey guided by an experienced professional.

what is functional medicine?

While the traditional medicine model focuses on treating symptoms of individual body parts, the functional medicine model uses a whole-body systems approach. Functional and integrative medicine focus on discovering root-causes of ailments, symptoms, and various health conditions with a goal of healing with natural methods rather than masking symptoms with prescription medications. Root causes of underlying illnesses can be due to things like hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, environmental toxicities, emotional stress, metabolic dysfunction, gut health/microbiome disturbances, autoimmune or inflammatory conditions, and genetic predisposition. We use advanced laboratory and diagnostic testing in our functional medicine facility in Hendersonville, Tennessee to guide integrative wellness plan and help our patients achieve balance and be the healthiest version of themselves. Our doctors are committed to offering you a quick and clear diagnosis, followed by an efficient treatment plan that will help you achieve your health goals. Healthcare is undergoing major transformations in the 21st century. Our alternative medicine physicians treat the root cause of illness while individualizing care for complex health challenges. Using a revolutionary approach, they look beyond the disease symptoms and address patients’ underlying imbalances to help restore optimal wellness. Patients suffering from chronic pain or acute pain caused by autoimmune conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, polymyalgia rheumatica etc ) will have more energy and will be able to enjoy life to the fullest thanks to our personalized care. A certified practitioner from our center will guide you on your wellness journey, showing you the path to better health. As opposed to conventional medicine, in which drugs are used to treat symptoms of ill health, integrative medicine treats the whole person, taking into consideration their genetic, biochemical, physiological and lifestyle imbalances and offering individualized alternative therapies such as nutritional supplementation, detoxification programs and emotional balancing.
